Menopause At Work
Here we examine why supporting employees going through menopause is crucial for business success and how proactive policies can positively impact outcomes. The module covers the symptoms and their impact on work, the legal and legislative framework, business risks and financial implications, as well as the benefits of implementing supportive policies to enhance staff retention and workplace culture.
What this module covers:
- Awareness: Educate all employees on menopause and its impact in the workplace, encourage open discussions, and train HR, managers, and senior leaders on menopause-related support.
- Support: Discuss flexible working arrangements, regular breaks, and implement menopause-sensitive absence management (such as excluding menopause-related absences from triggers). Additionally, provide workplace adjustments (including temperature control and uniform options) and ensure access to counselling and employee assistance programmes.
- Policy: Develop menopause policies and commit to reviewing and updating regularly to ensure fair treatment and recognise legal responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 regarding reasonable adjustments.
- Implementation: Train line managers to handle menopause related conversations sensitively and ensure HR staff support policy implementation. Monitor progress with an action plan to measure impact.
